To Be Read Book Tag | Book Talk

I decided to create this book tag because my to be read pile has reached the height of mountains. As of today I have over four hundred books on my TBR. Now I don't expect everyone to have such an out of control book pile, but let's dig into those books we've been meaning to read, or you could possibly find a few more to add to your pile!

I'll keep the rules pretty simple for this one. Make sure to link back to this original post, and tag as many bookish friend s as you would like! Don't have a blog? Go ahead and put your answers into the comments below. :)

Name the book that has been on your TBR the longest

This one I'm going to have to base off of my Goodreads time stamps. I have a few that were added on the same day, so let's go with Cast in Courtlight by Michelle Sagara. I read the first book in this series so long ago that I barely remember much of it. If I want to read this one, I'm pretty sure a reread in order.

Name the last book you added to your TBR

The Curse of the Mistwraith by Janny Wurts | Book Talk
The Curse of the Mistwraith by Janny Wurts

Thanks to Twitter and my book club, my newest TBR addition is The Curse of the Mistwraith by Janny Wurts. I recently posted about another Janny Wurts book my book club selected as our February read, Daughter of the Empire, and a host of new recommendations came my way to read Janny Wurts other books.

Name a book with an animal in the story line

The Mercy Thompson series is one I read when I first discovered the urban fantasy genre. I loved it and sped through all the books that were published at the time. Then I started into other series and never managed to circle back once the new book was released. Now I'm suddenly a lot more than one book behind in the series! Unfortunately, I don't think I could pick up Fire Touched and continue on. I'll need a series reread.

Name a standalone novel

It seems like most of my TBR consists of series, duets, trilogies etc. But once in a while I add standalones. I don't know much about The Haunting of Brynn Wilder. This is one where the cover captured me. It's so simply yet sends a chill down my spine. This also seems like a good candidate for the February She Wrote theme for this month.

Name a book that's not your usual read

Shocked found it's way onto my TBR back when I was working on a dark sci-fi novel. One of my main characters can heal, and I wanted to research all the odd stories in the medical field to see what I could bring into my story. Now my story has been on the back burner for a few years now as life grew crazy busy, but I still plan on reading this.

Name a book from a series you've been meaning to read

Hounded by Kevin Hearne | Book Talk
Hounded by Kevin Hearne

Hounded was a bookstore find as I wandered the isle trying to find a new series to start. The store I used to go to didn't really stock much aside from the extremely popular series I had no interest in, or ones I had already read. Then I saw Hounded sitting by itself and realized it was an urban fantasy that involved druids. Instantly bought it, then I never read it. Story of my reading life.

I am attempting to pick books from my TBR pile this year as I join in on various themed reads and reading challenges this year. I hope to at least bring my TBR pile down into the 300 range. We'll see how it goes. 😂

And this time around I'm going to tag the following bookish folks on Twitter to participate!
