Blurb for Ashes of a Risen Empire
The first Elmerïan, Tirian Roclorn, has lost.
His family. His empire. His dragon.
After being hunted for centuries, he had been betrayed by blood. The elves took everything.
A new empire must be ripped from the land, molded into a devastating force, if the elves were to be stopped. With little to lose and everything to gain, Tirian will set his sights on vengeance…and rebirth.
Ashes will fall. Dragons will bleed. Factions will crumple.
Will Tirian obtain his vengeance, or will the ashes of a risen empire take everything he has left?
Ashes of a Risen Empire Book Review
Ashes of a Risen Empire drops readers straight into a high tension scene. Tirian wakes to the battle he knew would come one day. After being hunted for centuries, his remaining dragonmages are to be attacked. Readers will have their interests peaked as they learn his own blood leads the charge. As the battle ensues, hints of Tirian’s past and a prophecy will spell out the downfall of his people.
There is a lot of history between the two opposing sides. While readers are given a glimpse into the catalysts that began this feud, there is much left for the reader to question. The absolute brutality shown to Tirian’s group is devastating.
The novella has distinct time frames involved. It shows how Tirian loses everything and the start of his revenge. There is almost too much context and background given in this novella, without prior knowledge of the series. The story spans centuries to show the building blocks of Tirian’s plot. And there is a note towards the end letting readers know Tirian will return in book two.
Ashes of a Risen Empire would be best enjoyed by those who have already read the Elmerïan Chronicles. The character development and magic system are well done, but understanding the world at large would require prior knowledge of the series.
